Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what data MySocialSaves ("we", "the Service") collects, how we use it and the choices you have.

1. What we collect
  • Account data: your email address and a bcrypt-hashed password.
  • Post metadata: titles, URLs, authors, scores and other fields returned by the platforms you connect (e.g. Reddit).
  • OAuth tokens: access and refresh tokens for connected platforms, stored encrypted and used solely for syncing your data.
  • Cached media: thumbnails and images linked from your saved posts, cached on our server to keep them viewable if the originals disappear.
  • Session data: a short-lived authentication cookie to keep you signed in.
2. What we do not collect
  • We do not collect analytics, tracking pixels or advertising identifiers.
  • We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties.
  • We do not store your platform passwords — only OAuth tokens.
3. How we use your data

We use your data exclusively to:

  • Provide the Service (importing, storing and displaying your saves)
  • Authenticate you and keep your account secure
  • Send transactional emails (email verification, magic links, password reset)
4. Data retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account exists. You can export all your post data at any time via the CSV export feature. To request full account deletion, please contact us via the GitHub repository.

5. Third-party services

The Service connects to third-party APIs (e.g. Reddit) to import your saves. Data fetched from those platforms is governed by their respective privacy policies. We do not transmit your personal data to those platforms beyond what is strictly necessary for the OAuth flow.

6. Security

Passwords are hashed with bcrypt. OAuth tokens are stored in the database. We use HTTPS for all traffic. We take reasonable technical measures to protect your data, though no system is completely secure.

7. Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the data we hold about you (your posts are visible in the app; account details in account settings)
  • Export your data (CSV export)
  • Request deletion of your account and all associated data
  • Unlink connected platforms at any time
8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or a notice on the site. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.
